New Day Has Come

THE FRIEND WHO SLOWLY DIED

Today, I received some bad news,
About the passing on of a dear friend.
I feel ashamed to call my friend dear,
Because I saw my friend slowly die and I did nothing.

It began some time back, when I noticed my friend stopped smiling.
Though I noticed, I never asked what was wrong.
We live in a day and age of everyone minding their own business.
My friend’s well being should be my business.

Then I noticed my friend disappearing online.
My friend stopped posting, was nowhere on social media.
I never bothered to ask why,
I was busy connecting with those who are active.

Then my friend stopped coming to Church,
We used to sit together in Church, serve.
I never followed up why the absence.
“I don’t beg people to come to worship” I thought.

Then I started hearing stories about my friend,
In fact, I ganged up with others to gossip about my friend.
We gossiped as if we are experts of how my friend should live,
I gossiped, instead of reaching out.

When I scrolled through my phone book list,
I passed my friend’s contact.
I waited for my friend to speak to me first,
Knowing very well my friend seemed to be going through something.

When my friend did call, I ignored.
I failed to reply the messages, too busy.
Or maybe I thought my friend was calling to ask me for money,
Based on the gossip I was told.

I used to pray for my friend,
But slowly I stopped.
It appears that out of sight,
Out of prayers.

Then today, I get to learn my friend has died.
My friend all along was struggling, feeling alone,
Yet all I did was nothing and make assumptions.
My friend was stressed, depressed then committed suicide.

Here I am asked to give a speech at the funeral,
Yet the tears I cry are for how I failed my friend when my friend was still living.
My friend is not coming back for me to love better,
Maybe if I cared things would have turned out different.

Look back and see the friends you have pushed away, ignored or taken for granted.
Call up that old friend, care for the one who has gone silent.
People are going through so many issues behind those fake smiles and glossy social media posts;
And all they need is a true friend.

Be a true friend,
Before it is too late.

Good days

If you not able to talk stay silent . If you choose to talk , choose your words wisely before you say them, and think before talking so that you will regret some of the things/ words you already said .

Sometimes it’s better to stay silent than to talk when it’s not necessary, and sometimes when you talk, you get accuse of too much talking. There’s a way of talking, so know when to talk and how to talk.

Blessed is the man who, having nothing to say, abstains from giving us wordy evidence of the fact.Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret.
You should try not to talk so much . You’ll sound far less stupid that way.

Silence is only frightening to people who are compulsive verbalizing. The right word may be effective, but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause. Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

Have hope and work hard

15 of Nelson Mandela’s best quotes

1) “Difficulties break some men but make others. No axe is sharp enough to cut the soul of a sinner who keeps on trying, one armed with the hope that he will rise even in the end.”

2) “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
TIMELINE: The life of Nelson Mandela

ON MANDELA: ‘Everyone was in awe of him’
3) “If I had my time over I would do the same again. So would any man who dares call himself a man.”

4) “I like friends who have independent minds because they tend to make you see problems from all angles.”

SOUTH AFRICANS ON MANDELA: ‘He is the person who saved this country’

7) “Everyone can rise above their circumstances and achieve success if they are dedicated to and passionate about what they do.”

8) “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

9) “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

10) “For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”

11) “Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies.”

12) “Lead from the back — and let others believe they are in front.”

13) “Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.”

14) “I hate race discrimination most intensely and in all its manifestations. I have fought it all during my life; I fight it now, and will do so until the end of my days.”

15) “A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination.”

The beach 🏖 goers. It’s always good to give a little shoutout if you appreciate the value of a true beach vacation more as you get older. The kind where you noticed white sand all around you and a beautiful mountainous 🏔 viewer in your surroundings.

Because there’s nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline, no matter how many times it’s sent away.

To escape and sit quietly on the beach – that’s indeed a very great idea, and some of paradise.

Of course Beach Rules: Soak up the sun. Ride the waves. Breathe the salty air. Feel the breeze. Build sandcastles. Rest, relax, reflect. Collect seashells. Bare-feet required always to enjoy properly.

You look out into the water;
The waves make the most beautiful sound.
A place you find peace and comfort,
Walking 🚶‍♀ and looking around.

As you walk toward the water,
Sand coats the bottom of your feet.
The smell of the sea salt drawing you closer,.
The view is so beautiful, oh so sweet.

Almost as if it is calling you.
Sometimes it’s only in your mind.
A place to clear your thoughts
And leave everything very far behind.

You find shells, rocks, and other things.
The warmth is like a kiss from up above.
Looking out into the Gulf Coast
Can only remind you of true love.

As the waves come crashing in,
Time seems to be standing still.
The sun is shining down on you
As you walk the beach at your will.

Paradise you thought you could never reach.
Out in the distance you can see the ships sailing by.
Tears of joy for the scene God has put before you,
As the moment makes you cry.

Two shadows are together as one,
A sign of great unity.
A great day full of fun
While walking at the beach.
